Black and White Film Assignment - Final Images

For this assignment I was asked to produce a sequence of four photographs in black and white using traditional methods. The choice of subject matter was up to me but was to follow a theme.

Following the assignment brief I decided to photograph a series of portraits and manipulate them to create new images. My project focused on Identity and looked at the juxtaposition between young and old, past and present and different races. I wanted to combine different identities in order to create a new and unknown one. My idea developed from an exhibition visit last year at the Whitechapel art gallery in London in which John Stezaker had created a series of portraits by deconstructing and reconstructing found images.
